Common Questions

Q: When can the CSA order form be turned in?
A: Anytime between Now till the item gets sold out or by April 1, which ever comes first, that way I will have plenty of time to aquire the livestock.
Don't wait too long though, items get sold out fast.

Q: What is a CSA?
A: CSA refers to Community Supported Agriculture,
The community members supports the farmer by reserving food items before the season begins. This helps the farmer by providing needed capital upfront to buy the seeds, plants, chicks, animal feed and other items needed to raise the crops for the coming year. In return the farmer provides the highest quality food items possible to the supporting members.
On some farms the members might also perform some of the physical labor or sales, we do not require this.

Q: Are you certified organic?
A: No. While we raise things in an organic and real fashion some of the locally grown and milled livestock feeds we purchase for the poultry and pork may not be organic.

Q: Do you raise poultry and pork during the winter months? If not why? Other CSA's are doing it.
A: No. Just as there is a season for growing tomatoes and zucchini there is a season for raising poultry and pork. In the winter the ground is frozen and the grass is not growing and the snow is 3 to 4 feet deep in places. Not a good time to be a tender chick or piglet to be on the pasture. And since I try my hardest to raise my animals as humane and "REAL" as possible I definitely do not want them locked in a crowded barn all winter, never to play out side, there's no green grass in there, There's no way to properly exercise and dig around the way poultry and pigs like to do, there's no fresh air and sunshine, and just what are they going to eat in the winter? A total diet of grains? No, that's just not right for me, in my opinion it is best to raise food animals outside in kinder weather when the season is right.

Q: I live too far away from your farm to pick up veggies and meats on a weekly basis but I've been to your farm and have seen how you struggle at times. How can I help?
A: We always need livestock feed and farm supplies you might considering joining as a sustaining member, your membership fee will go towards the different projects that need backing.

Question: What is the best way to contact your farm?
Answer: Email is best.
BlueEggFarmer@Yahoo.com

Question: Where is your meat processed? Are your meats USDA inspected?
Answer: Lamb, Pork, and Beef go to my butcher, T L Kellers Meats in Litchfield for processing. They are USDA inspected.
Poultry is processed here on the farm and sold from the farm.

Q: If I am not sure about ordering or I can't pick up my shares can I get a refund?
A: Sorry, No. The money you provided us with bought the livestock, feed and supplies needed to raise the food animals, it is gone. Please ask any questions you might have before you sign up, please have a friend or family member pick up your shares, as we do not have any spare room to store your items.
