Become a Farm Friend of the Blue Egg Farm
by becoming a Sustaining Member
Becoming a Sustaining member is not required to purchase veggies or meat shares, this is totally voluntary.

Many times visitors to our farm and website can really appreciate the hard 24/7 work of producing wholesome, humane and sustainable food and would love to purchase a share in our veggie or meats but because of timing or distance just can not come out to the farm to pick up the goodies. So for the person who would like to support our farm, family and agricultural way of life I have set up the Sustaining Membership.

Farm Friends who purchase a Sustaining Membership directly help our farm by providing funds which will be saved until there is enough to be used in the project of their choosing.
You select what you would like your membership fee used for.
I will send you the results when the time comes.
For example: If you choose to fund our garden plants and seeds I will Email you a photo or video showing you exactly what plants we have purchased with your fee and personally thank you for helping our small family for the year and hopefully you will feel great joy and satisfaction knowing you have really helped us out.
As an added thank you gift, everyone who becomes a Sustaining Member everyone who funded $20.00 or more will receive a beautiful hand made tote bag that I am busying myself with making over these cold, cold winter months.

Below is a list of projects from the most needed to the least.

Field Fencing
Desperately needed to create a parameter around our farm to keep the sheep, cows, pigs, and turkeys in, and keep the dogs and other predators out.
As our farm friends may know, our property is very long on the street side and our fencing needs were met by a natural hedgeroll that ran along the roadside which acted as a natural barrier between the street and the pasture. Well the township being helpful decided to bushwack the whole thing down. We are now naked on the streetside with nothing to keep the livestock in. We are in immediate need of funding for this project.
.

I need 5 rolls of this field wire - each roll is approximately $156.00
Red Brand Premium Field Fence 1047-6-12 1/2 47"x330' Monarch Knot 70048
Brand new is not required, gently used would be great too.

and to hold up the fence wire I need 7 Foot Metal Tee Posts, each 300 ft roll needs at least 30 posts - each post is approximately $5.50.
Brand new is not required, gently used would be great too.

Breeder Berkshire Hogs

Berkshire pork is in my opinion the best tasting pork, the pigs themselve are great at living the outdoor life that we provide.
Over the years we have had to purchase the piglets from other sources to raise over the summer month. Some years it is impossible to buy the piglets, the demand is so high and other breeds of pigs must be used.
For this project I would like to obtain 2 or 3 female Berkshire hogs to raise and sell piglets of our own.

Bees

I have 5 beehive, and every year the bees die off over the winter because of the cold, starvation or disease.
For this project I would like to obtain 5 new 3 pound packages of bees to replenish the hives in the spring so that we can have honey next year.

Organic Feed
We can not raise our own corn or grains to feed the poultry and pigs who rely on them, our feed comes from grain mills who mix up grains for us from what the local farmer bring in.
The only organic feed available to me is packaged and 4 times the cost of the mill mix.
If we were to use purchased organic feed exclusively the cost of our meats would increase by 4 fold and out of the reach of the average person who depend on us.
So I must comprise by feeding the custom mixes the mills provide us with and letting the livestock have access to the pastures in hopes that they will fill up on healthy grasses and insects.
While this is great I would still like to switch out their generic mill mix feeds with certified organic feeds, and still charge the same price for my meats.
This project will be on going, and supplement the cost of purchasing organic feed.
